My 53 Chevy 1/2 ton has a a 1955 car engine and a 1955 3 speed floor shift transmission..

Hi to all...᠁᠁᠁᠁.. I need a throw out bearing as the one that I put in two years ago went bad.....it must have been dry but it felt smooth before installing.. These sealed bearing have no way to lube them.
There are no part numbers on it so I presume that it is from China....

The previous bearing was purchased from Jim Carter and stated it was for the years 1938-1972... It states that this is for a diaphragm type pressure plate which is what I have.

Is there a throw out bearing made in the USA for a 1955 tranny. ??
All suggestions are appreciated...᠁᠁.thanks, John

There are two different throw out bearings for the chevy, short and long. The short bearing is used on diaphragm clutches where the fingers are more uplifted and cone like (usually higher performance pressure plates) and the three finger pressure plates. the long bearing is used for stock diaphragm pressure plates where the fingers are flat. My assumption is that you have a stock flat fingered pressure plate so you want the long style.

As to usa made, I am not sure there is any in current manufacture but the last usa throw out bearings I purchased I found on ebay. BCA, Green, L&S, Delco of course, others.

I was able to purchase a USA made throwout bearing from NAPA. Working good 1+ years later. Had the same poor luck with the usual vendor supplied bearing.
