If so what did you do about the drive shaft. I've got several SM 420's to pick from. Some with the four bolt flat universal set up with the brake band and others with the u-bolt universal joint hook up. Will I have to put in a hanger bearing? Thanks | | |

I installed mine in a long bed (68), so I did have to install the carrier bearing and make my own bracket for it. You will love it when your done. The pulling power is really impressive. Good luck!

It has a one piece shaft and the emergency brake is the dash mounted type. I guess a 4 speed was available option. Mine is a deluxe cab fleetside, short wheelbase, with all the chrome, but it orginally had the standard heater and no radio. Someday must have ordered it that way.

You may know this, but Napa and probably others can give you any combination of u-joints....big to little, little to big, etc. I went to a junk yard that puts all there used drive shafts in a bus for people like us to dig thru. Just pick the right length. It is easy to pick the right length once you get the tranny in. The length doesn't have to be perfect either. Hope this helps - Scott
