The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Tranny yoke question

I bought a vintage 3spd OD off ebay which is complete and in good shape except it didn't come with a yoke. I still have the original non-OD 3spd in the truck which I could take the yoke from. Does anybody know if it should swap in ? also, is there anything that actually holds the yoke onto the tranny ie: a clip etc, or does it just slide on the spline with the universal joint/driveshaft length keeping it trapped ?

It slides in on the splines and is held in with a bolt in the center .

That's what I expected, but the end of the output shaft of the tranny is not threaded and only has a
small hole or dimple really that probably was left over from it's manufacture. I suppose I could drill & tap it. The truck is an open driveline 3/4 ton by the way.
