K5 chassis, 454 V8, the TH350 has _zero_ engine braking in any gear, my Son thinks this is normal, I know it is not and is dangerous on a 4X4 that goes down some terribly steep grades .
Where should we begin looking ? .

High-stall converters have a tendency to freewheel in a coasting situation. Also you might check for a worn kickdown band. Jerry
