That said let me say a few things about myself, I, as a child have loved car's and trucks. The badging, the style of many dashboards from the 30's, 40's, and through the 60's
At 66 years of age I finally got the truck I always thought a good looker, which was GMC and Chevorlet AD. I have a 1948 GMC . But unlike the cars I have had this truck looks like it will be a challenge for my old mind, but no giving up! I intend to give it a 100% .
Seems my biggest problem is not Knowing a lot about figuring out half ton, 3/4 ton 3100 or just what it truly is. At any rate I hope too gain knowledge from folks who do know and have knowledge of these fine trucks.

According to this 48 Chevy Truck Info wheelbase on a 1/2 ton would be 116 inches, and a 3/4 ton would be longer.
