I'm at a loss, I've looked at most all referred to web-sites, and a lot of past forums, but I just can't narrow down the engine stamp to my 1952-3100. Please see attached photo. I think the engine is stock to my truck, but I was looking to confirm. I think (based on data found here on SB), that it's a 216 cu in. What say you? Stamped code is " BKCA769609"
My beloved flame-throwing 216 has a cracked case, I found a ad that claims this used engine is a 261 cu in. Based on the enclosed pixs of engine casting #'s, and codes, anyone want to take a stab at ID'n the chevy engine? It's bolted to a sm420, the seller wants $300.00 for the pack. Please advise what the engine #'s tell me. It will ( hopefully) go into my '52 3100.
Many thanks, and sorry for not having the band-width to research this myself! PS, the stamped code behind the dist. reads "f02I9H" Jim

Why put something in that is smaller that stock? Just wondering what your logic is.

How big of can of worms do you want to open? Easiest engine replacement would be to replace the 216 with another 216. You will have some issues if you install anything else; there are many threads on this site where you can read about these issues. Ed pointed out an issue in his post above.
I have a lot of sales resistance and I get spooked when I find out someone is trying to sell me something that it's not advertised to be. Could be an honest mistake, but I worry that there may be other mistakes too.
