I'm wondering if maybe one is old design and the other is newer. Anyway, one is stamped CHEV. H-604 FRONT in such a way as the letters are stamped into the manifold. The other is marked H603 REAR in raised letters. The outlet is beveled to accept a gasket. The Front one is not beveled.
Is this common?

My Fenton's use the different gaskets as you describe. I was told this is normal.
Maybe someone else can give information about the numbers.

| | | | | Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 784 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 784 | Dennis - My fentons use two different gaskets also. The front is a flat gasket and the rear is a donut style. I was told that this is the way the original mold was for these things.

However, this does not explain why front header was not similarly designed to accept a donut style.
Maybe someone else can give us some more info. | | |
