So, I robbed a hydroboost setup from an 03 van a few years back. I decided to fit it in my truck finally. Take a peak at what I did. The placement is great.

Why did you choose on the firewall instead of under the truck out of sight and possibly fewer permanent modifications to the truck?

I know I carried the flag for the straight axle 8 lug trucks for a while. Since I purchased the IFS suspension, there were going to be a lot of changes to begin with.

Anyhow, I was already doing a resto-mod project with the Vortec 4200 drivetrain. So, hiding the booster under the cab doesn't really do that much for appearance sake when there's a large plastic intake and a jumble of wiring going through the firewall. The only real permanent modification to the truck is the 2.5" hole I drilled in the firewall. Of course the factory pedal will have to go.

Long story short, the biggest reason it's on the firewall is because that's how it came off the donor van. The pedal, pedal bracket, and booster are all from the same vehicle.

It actually mounted very nicely on the firewall. It's between the two vertical ribs and below the horizontal one. It's as low on the firewall as you can get, in a very strong spot.

The tell-all will be when I get to actually drive it, which won't be anytime soon. Right now, I'm just trying to get as much mocked up as I can before I start blowing things apart.
