Wheels with that mounting pattern could be used on lighter trucks than the class eight trucks which use 8.25" wide wheels and mount 11R tires to, hope that clarifies. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 | The standard of the industry is 8.25x22.5 wheels with 295 75R25 or 275 80 R22.5 tires. The 7.50 x 22.5 would be the wheel for a 9R22.5 tire. 9R22.5 is still a common tire on on two ton bob tail trucks. However stud piloted is becoming a thing of the past. r

I bought a lot of 9Rx22.5 tires from a local school bus depot that were pre-mounted to this and some other styles of rims. I had them dismounted and put on a 1969 Chevy C50. The shop foreman didn't say what these were actually used on, but I gathered that it wasn't the school buses but instead some other type of road work/support equipment. I have no need for and was curious to which vehicles might still be using. As from what was mentioned above, if it is an option, it seems that most newer trucks/buses have switched to the wider rims to take advantage of the more common 11R and 12R tires. | | |
