I think I’ve done my research and am not asking a question that’s been answered over and over - but if I missed something I apologize. Dealing with the age-old RH-5 question on my 1950 6400. Backs are widow makers fronts are not. Has anyone found a useable adaptor to take 4.75 x7.25 pattern out to 10.25? My son is a CNC machinist and we’re preparing to make our own - but I’m wondering if anyone has come across an off the shelf option.

Don't know of anyone making them, however the correct wheels are way better than adapters, steel or 7000 Al would be the best to make them from. Ed

I agree on the correct wheels, but seem to be unicorns from everything I see on here and elsewhere. I don’t load this truck real heavy, but I enjoy it and use it a lot and need to come up with a solution - present tires are 40 yrs old and in dire need of replacement. We’ll make any adaptors out of good steel.

New Guy, Not sure what your existing pattern is, 4.75 x 7.25 doesn't make sense, usually the first number is the number of lugs, the second is the diameter, i.e. 10 on 7.25" for example. I made some steel adapters to put original IHC 5 on 8 wheels on a D 70. 1" or so steel, drill and tap 8 on 6.5" for Allen bolts from inside of axle, bore ID of adapter to fit Dana hub, drill and tap 5 on 8" for stud centered IHC wheel. Been working fine for 10 years or so. Ed

He has it written as pilot hole x lug spacing, I can only assume he has 5 lug fronts and 10 lug rears.

New Guy, If what you have is 5/10 on 7.25", late '50's first tubeless tires had 9 x 22.5 tires, mostly found on farm trucks that should work on your truck. The rims are sort of narrow, but mount a 9" tire OK. If that is what would work for you, don't bother calling around wrecking yards, they won't know what you are talking about, and if they think they are rare(they are) , they will charge too much. Look around junk piles, abandoned scrap piles, many farmers and ranchers have those. Ed

Those tubeless 10 lug on 7.25" wheels actually came with 8x22.5 or even 7x22.5 tires. These sizes likely aren't available any more, I haven't seen theme except old crispy tires on these wheels.
The available replacement is a 9R22.5 tire, which should be used on 6" wide rim minimum. The old wheels are only 5.25" wide, the 9R22.5 tires do still easily fit and in many cases will work fine, but not advised by the tire manufacturer.
