I installed the drivers side vent door and it's not quite right. I've tried moving it around on the bolts but that just tweaks it in and out. To add a washer to the lower bolt would just push the bottom towards the front. Anyone have any success getting this thing lined up? Thanks. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2000 Posts: 804 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2000 Posts: 804 | A lot of times those hinges have been rusted and while opening and closing the lid (forcing it open or closed) the hinge has been bent. Remove the lid and see if you can bend the hinge back into place.
And remove all that masking tape the minute you are done with it. It can dry out pretty quick and become next to impossible to remove!

I will take a look at the hinge tonight after work. And I'll remove the masking tape. If you look closely, I didn't have it on there when I first opened the vent, and scratched the brand new paint in the corner. Before new paint and gasket mine would close alot like the top vent...it took a little more pressure to seal and close. Now my side vent won't lock and stay in closed position....I have had it off and on a dozen times and can't see how this can be adjusted to make it tighter :confused: ....I will follow your post and hopefully someone will chime in. I like the color of your truck too

I've been pulling anything that I can unbolt, restore and slip back on in a day or two. I'm holding off on the clip, bed, cab and frame till the bad weather makes shutin's out of us.
I also pulled a good fitting driver side vent off mine just to paint the outside and replace the rubber gasket. When I reinstalled it it sits to far forward in the opening. This doesn't make sence because there is no adjustment forward or backward. Nothing was pryed or bent simply unbolted and removed.
