I've been following a lot of posts and looking up info about these old trucks, and I have seen some stuff about factory pinstripes that doesn't jive with what is on my truck, which I believe to be original. This info comes off of reliable sites - much of it originates from GM documents and manuals - but I get the idea that GM's documents doesn't necessarily agree with what came from the factory.
Regarding pinstripes, according to GM my '53 3100 in Ocean Green should have been delivered with a single wide cream-colored stripe around the cab, but I have instead two narrow, occasionally converging black stripes, they look to be very nicely applied by hand. Some details can be seen here:

I am thinking, of course the factory production included a lot of variety. But for the dudes out there doing pedantic restorations it might be interesting to know just how much variation there was. So my question is: you all who have trucks with original paint, what kind of pinstripes do you have? It might be best to list both the color of the paint and the color and number of pinstripes. And how about wheels, do you all have old pinstripes around the rims?

My '52 3600 has original (weathered) Forester green paint and a single Cream pinstripe around the cab. No pinstripes on the wheels.

According to the 1953 Specifications documentation from the Resto Pack, a 1953 Ocean Green should have had Jet Black striping.

That is probably an original pinstripe. The originals were hand painted, and 1/4 inch wide (some may argue that point), looks like yours was quickly done and poorly at that. But it is interesting to see the painters originally used small brushes and made 2 or more passes. As you guessed, there is lots of variation between pinstripes.
Your wheels would not have come with pinstripes, only the deluxe cabs came with wheels being body color and with pinstripes. Your wheels would have been black originally.

Does anyone else have an earlier Restoration Pack? It would be interesting to see what they show for pinstripe colors.

My '53 6500 came out of the Baltimore plant with Ocean green paint and Jet Black stripes.

The Tech Tip on 47-55 Colors shows a black pinstripe with Ocean Green in 1953-54 (and presumably in 1955).

In 1953, Ocean Green replaced Seacrest Green (47-52), which had a Cream Medium pinstripe.
