It has to be a situation I've seen before in my own family. Father or grandfather dies. Leaves no will. The heirs must sell and split the money per the probate court. Relatives want grandpa's truck. More than one relative maybe. So they fight for it or they are shilled up by the auction people knowing the situation. There is no other answer for that price. It is not a rare truck even with 30K miles. Obviously the person who bought it has sentimental interest not investment. If they restore it they will be pushing $50K total. Maybe more.
The 30K was all on the farm/ranch. That's a lot of usage. Not a Fleetside, not a big window, not deluxe cab, some rust out, one non original wheel and cap, Farm style reinforced rear bumper, non tri 5, lots of other unknowns, none of which could be positive, not in garage kept 30K mi condition, nice old truck. Don't see any dents. Valuable to a degree. Patina is neat but has zero value, it's just rust and weathering. Just my expert opinion. Thanks for posting it. | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 341 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 341 | Thanks, i thought it was interesting to see. Trucks are hot these days, but not that hot. Did you notice the on-line bidders dropped out way back in the bidding. Yes, old trucks are having a good time in the market now. A stranger was looking at my 59 which I would say is 60% done offered me $30,000.00! I just smiled and said no sir I am building it for my son and grandson. It is my last ho raah! Pops the truth is out there

Maybe they got "Barret-Jackson" fever. Anything that has been sitting for an extended period will need a gas tank, carburetor, tune up parts, battery, brakes, tires, and likely a radiator. It might even run but then again, why was it parked for so long? Fred
