After getting a clear title in hand, I aired up the tires and drug it a couple miles down the road to my shop. Gave it a quick pressure wash inside and out. I could grab the fan and roll the engine over with relative ease. Next I pulled the valve cover and gave everything a thorough spraying of MMO as I turned the engine over by hand. Then gave a soaking of penetrating oil to everything I thought I may work on in the near future. I pulled the interior and gas tank and removed the bed. Plan of attack Get this engine running Get brakes(which previous owner mentioned were problematic) Check clutch, transmission, & rear end Deal with tires and rims Stay tuned for updates and progress pics. I'm sure I've done it before, just don't remember how. I have my brakes off, but I'm unemployed at the moment so can't afford to finish. I pulled the interior, gas tank, put on 19.5 inch wheels (though I hope to find some 22.5 when I can afford it) and I have the materials to reinstall the tank and redo the seat. Motor turns, a little tweaking and it will start and the tranny seems to be good.

Starter was taken off and tapped on and boosted until it began working freely. Fuel pump was well as all lines and inline filter were replaced, local NAPA had what I needed on the shelf. So once I got the new lines ran I went to bleed again and the Master cylinder starts hemorrhaging, guess it’s time to order one. Napa shows it as a 9220 and RockAuto comes up with a 9221, I cannot make out any useful casting number on the MC itself. Once I install the new MC I’ll go ahead and blow out the wheel cylinders next...

Did you replace the brake rubber hoses and does your truck have a hydrovac? I have often taken those MC's out and disassembled and checked their cylinder bore for wear. The port in reservoir often also needs cleaning, and others here can tell you if a basic MC rebuilt kit is still available. I have not yet had to re-sleeve one of those bigger MC's , but that is an option if you can't find a new one. | | | | Joined: Sep 2018 Posts: 21 diesel weasel | diesel weasel Joined: Sep 2018 Posts: 21 | Yes it does have a hydrovac system, I have not replaced any vacuum lines on the system. I’ve replaced every line from the MC to the rear wheel cylinders. I gave some thought to a rebuild kit but it seems a new one from RockAuto isavaliable for $130, I’ll give it a try.
