I've got the doors completely disassembled and the hinges removed. The left side hinge has a spring in it and a detent, so it will stay open when you open it. The right side door hinge does not - the slot the spring fits through isn't even there so it looks like that was how it came from the factory.

On 1947 models, the catalog specifically says right and left springs, but with 48 and up models, it just says "ALL".
