Ok guys. I have a Tilt Cab 50 series chevy. Factory front brake drums are Dayton 120100. The last place you could buy them looks to be Napa. Made by Gunite under part number 3285. Dayton, Gunite, Meritor, Webb, have all obsoleted the drums. I even asked to buy an old pattern and cast and machine my own. All patterns from those companies have been destroyed. How does brake drum relining work?

It might help if we knew what year your truck is. We have discussed resurfacing drums before but I don’t remember the outcome. Try our search function.

Hy BowtieMan, welcome, please remember to tell us the year of the truck you are searching for parts for, also the capacity of the front axle if you know it. Alternatively the diameter and width of the braking surface and the number of holes in the mounting surface of the drum, hope that helps.

Hy BowtieMan, the GM p/n is 3996775, as you said Napa p/n TWD 3285. contact member 54 3600, he performs dealership searches for N.O.S. parts, send him a PM and ask him to search for us. Are you sure there are no more at Napa?

Try this site. Maybe something matches or comes close enough to make work. Did't find an application guide, but they show the dimensions.

Call these guys. If they cant fix you up, they probably know who can.

They cut a big truck drum near the end of the video..

I did run one of the flywheel grinders back in the day when I worked at a parts store. Fun..

Hy BowtieMan, just a thought have you had the drums checked with a micrometer, it seems to me these drums could be turned up to .090 oversize. I will try and verify that as I'm operating on dubious memory cells.

Hy BowtieMan, okay I have verified "Drums with standard diameter over 14" can be machined up to.080" oversize." I hope your drums are still turnable.

That would be enough to last 4 lifetimes...lol!

Make sure they are still within spec and not just junk.

If you didn't buy the used ones, I have one Dayton 120100 new old stock in my warehouse. Sorry we did not see your posts when they were current, we just don't find the time to stay up on the Internet. My wife and I have a bunch of NOS GM stuff for the 'big bolts'!

Hello Tom:
I saw your post and was curious as to what type of items you have for big bolts. I’m alway on the lookout for parts for my truck.

Thank you for your time.
