Well last night I took off the head and 4 exhaust valves are sunk into the head! No wonder it ran like crap!!! It's now at the machine shop to see if anything can be done, but has anyone had this happen to them? And if so, what did you do,if anything can be done, to fix the problem? The engine is a stock setup.

I just had this done to my heads. It ain't cheap though - new seats, guides, and valves probably around $300-$400.

#12773 12/13/2002 9:18 PM | Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 962 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 962 | They're right, a head this worn calls for 6 new exhaust seats, all new valves, new guides, retainers, locks, springs, seals, head milling, the works. Cost me $350 back in '97 when I had it done.
Make sure that the machinist sets the spring installed height and spring pressures correctly. Don't just shim up the valvespring if the seat pressures are low. Replace the springs if weak.
