Good Friday evening fellow bolters!!

Before I set the fresh 235 back in the 54, I bought all new motor mounts from Jim Carter in Independence. The sleeves in my old motor mounts are shot and it's a shame that they are not offered to go along with the rear mounts because after seeing mine, I can't imagine any others are re-usable.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a source for the sleeves. I looked at a section of small pipe today at the local farm store and the ID looks ok (1/2 inch), but the OD is just slightly bigger than my old sleeves and I am afraid the pipe won't fit the hole in the bottom half of the mount.

Thanks!!

Kevin

Would electrical conduit be a better fit? Might be a little on the light side.

Not sure about that. Haven't thought about conduit.

The tube doesnot go through the hole in the lower mount. It bottoms in the mount to serve as a spacer.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Good evening George,

So the crossmember must be thick enough that it spaces the 2 halves out. I haven't test fit the bottom half yet. The pipe I found today may work then. I figure the pipe serves basically as a limiter so when you torque the bolt down, it don't mash the mount.

Thank you!!

Kevin

The mount spacer/sleeve needs to be the correct OD as it rides in the cross member hole to keep the engine from moving forward or backwards (like a centering/alignment pin).
