I'd use the one off the 216:

If you are staying at 6v on the 1949 (using the 6v starter), use the 216 pressure plate, clutch-assembly, and throwout/release bearing.

The answer (from above): "I'd use the one off the 216"

I believe that the stud for bellcranks of a 235 and a 216 are in different locations on the block. I do not know if the actual bellcranks are the same or not. I am guessing that they are not.
You can drill and tap the block for the correct location for the 216 bellcrank stud on your '58 block. You can probably do a search and find directions for that.

There's a good picture with a little blerb about relocating the stud, as 52Carl mentioned above. Page 6.

bell crank stud

Way more cool 6-cylinder Chevy info there too.

If you move the bellcrank you will have to lengthen the accelerator rod. I took a different path. Used the 235 bellcrank location. Ran the rod up and between the manifolds and welded a bolt to the rod end, going straight forward to the carb linkage. Put a nut on both side of the carb linkage so I didn't add a twist motion. Then I added some length to the vertical rod. Still works good after 30,000 miles. If I were doing it again, I would opt for the relocated bellcrank.
