Hi all, was looking for your opinion on whether I should keep this extinguisher in the cab or not. It is an old Carbon Tet that has been emptied. I mocked it up on the passenger kick panel and am scratching my head if it looks good or should I forget about it and mount it on the shop wall. My truck is a 53 and I restored it to look period correct. Thanks for your comments, Steve

Wow, that is so cool. Might have been mounted in some commercial applications but not the average Joe. My vote, because it’s so eye catching, is leave it. Again, really cool!ðŸ‘ðŸ»

Thank you Martin for your opinion. If I mount it, I will drill the bracket to accept the access panel screws so I don't drill any holes in the truck.

Mount it in the cab, but disable the quick release in case some dummy might think it's functional and grab it in an emergency. Those old brass canisters polish up really nice with something like Brasso or Mother's polish. Then give it a coat of clear to keep it from tarnishing. Jerry

When I purchased my '48 Chevy 1/2 ton, there were some "mystery" holes in this area. My carpenter brother John took this vintage extinguisher out on a demolition job that he was on. He gave me the fire extinguisher. On a whim, I wondered if it would fit in this location. The bracket holes fit exactly--dumb luck!!! Since my truck originally was a road department service truck, I decided to mount it there. The contents of the fire extinguisher were discharged, and I cleaned up the canister and the bracket. It has become a conversation piece.
Thanks for the idea Jerry, hit it with some brasso and a polishing bit on the dremel, wow! Thanks for your input all, went ahead and velcro'd the bracket to the kick, no holes for me. Fonz, looks like you have a twin, hope mine will generate a bs session or two too. Holes lining up, I'd go buy a lotto ticket, but it probably had that same size and model extinguisher when the road truck went into service. Good find. I have been looking for years at antique and rummage sales, found many of them but without the bracket. I finally got lucky and found a nice extinguisher and bracket for 30 bucks on fleabay.
