Does the end assembly slide forward and off ? I looked in the 54 Truck Manual but I could not find the procedure. My old seal is made of rubber, new ones are cork. Will the old cork style ok to use or should I get the rubber type ? 54 1/2 ton with Hydra-Matic transmission Thanks. Michael...

In the UNIVERSAL BALL JOINT ADJUSTMENT in the Shop Manual, " Remove the universal joint ball from the torque tube ". It does not say how. Does it just slide forward and off ? The yoke came out ok and is in good shape.
