Just like the title says I am needing some way to fix my driveshaft hanger bearing assembly on the 6400. The part number in my old Chevy book is 954257, this says "kit". Obviously these are generally not available, I checked the internet and nothing. I picked up a modern "replacement" that is the right shaft size but is wrong in every other way. Bolt holes off and I think it will put too much angle on the shaft if I try to use it. Just wondering if anyone might have something like this put away or if anyone has ideas. I am trying to get this thing done since I put my place up for sale and will be moving IF it ever sells. I'm trying to sell some stuff that I have accumulated and have stuff listed in the marketplace but have so much money and time in this 6400 would like to keep it. Thanks to everyone. Apologies if I put this in the wrong spot but am looking for ideas as well so didn't just put it in the parts wanted section.
If the shaft size is correct you may be able to get a "spacer" made to get you the correct distance from the cross member to maintain drive shaft angle. You would have to take the measurements and "design it" and then find a local machine shop to fabricate it, unless you have the equipment to do so yourself.
If you have access to a Hydraulic press you can "rebuild" the propeller shaft support . You can get the rubber cushion and bearing from The Filling Station. Part number DS-259 and the bearing B-49 ( or bearing X88107 available at most any NAPA , Autozone, etc...) .
According to the 1954 Parts and accessories catalog , group 5.432, your truck uses the same "Hanger Support " as the 3/4 ton , Support 3685951, and the same "bearing" , Group 5.436 , part number 954257 , same as X-88107 , and the same "cushion" Group 5.439, part number 3657610. The parts from the Filling station are said to replace the cushion and bearing. If you are careful you can "save" the shield and slingers for reuse.. Note that this is the "single row" bearing set up. If you have a double row bearing then we have a different set of part numbers to deal with. Other parts places may have the same products as The Filling Station.

Lot of information, the part number I referenced was from my parts book which is from 1956. The bearing itself is the same as the modern hanger I got at the parts store, the guy there has been fairly helpful in finding stuff for me. Most places in this rural area just laugh at you when you look for parts for something this old. I had never heard of the Filling Station, I tried to search the internet but that never came up. I do have a hydraulic press so maybe if I get the new cushion and bearing I can do it myself. The parts guy suggested "cutting" the rubber insulator from the new hanger to fit the original hanger. This was apart at some time it appears as the cushion was installed with duct tape around it, maybe the old rubber had shrunk. I have found many oddball repairs of this nature on this old farm truck. I want to keep the driveshaft angle the same so need to try to go this route. Thanks so much for the information. I figured someone would know what to do.
It was only within then last year or so that the cushion became available and finding an NOS part was difficult. The Shop manual will help you a lot, it has step by step instructions on replacing the bearing, cushion, slingers, etc..... Here's a link to the Old Car Manual Project. You'll find a lot of good information there. Open up the 1948-51 Chevy Truck Shop Manual, go to page 4-56 and it discusses repair of the bearing support. Best wishes on a successful repair.

Rock auto has it is stock, plus a couple more. Just go to the web site and put it 954257 and it will pop up.
Or, look up your truck by year model, etc. and go to drive-train, etc. etc. and it show a couple different options.
Pro tip (as my daughter would say), get an account or at least a login and password, then enter all you old cars and trucks. Then when they close out old parts, they send you an email, etc. I have about 8 wheel cylinders for my 58' now because they cost me about $3 each, new from Rock Auto. 4 v-belts for my truck at .99 cents each. And not the cheap stuff either.

I pulled up the Rock Auto site and looked at this, while it might be the correct size bearing it appears to be an assembly which isn't even close to the original so won't work. Thanks anyway for the info.
UPDATE: I followed the advice of Dusty53 and ordered the bearing and cushion from the Filling Station. I discovered the bearing that was in the hanger was the same number, got the grease retainer off that one along with the slingers and got everything on the new bearing. The old cushion must have shrunk with age hence the duct tape around it. The new cushion was larger and fit tight, I managed to slide everything back into the old hanger using my press, I think it is about the way it should be again. Thanks for the help on this, way better than trying to make something work that wasn't right.
