I had my 1953 GMC grill chromed and they did not put rivets in all the holes. The question I have is whether I should put stainless steel rivets in the missing holes or should I replace the existing rivets with stainless steel nuts and bolts?

I don't know that you can even get stainless steel rivets, stainless isn't very malleable (unless you are talking about the aluminum pop rivets that look like stainless).

I was able to special order stainless steel rivets. Right now I have the option of using the stainless steel rivets or stainless steel nuts and bolts.

Be careful if you are buying SS pop type rivets they will not work in a standard pop rivet gun as the rivet is very hard and more than a hand grip is needed...make sure you have the correct type of gun as the jaws for SS rivets are also different. T/C Steve

I did buy SS pop rivets. I didn't know they were different size and would not work in a normal hand rivet tool.

I gues that puts me back to using the SS nuts and bolts.

Thanks for the info.
