The aprons on my 47 are pretty much toast (rust, holes, dents, etc), so I figured on getting some new ones. The cheapest I found were about $50 each, plus shipping. I have access to several Amish metal/fab/welding shops around here, so I decided to ask one of them to make a set for me. He charged me $10 a piece (no shipping!).
They are nearly EXACT to the originals, and made from 14 gauge, instead of the stock gauge (20 ?).

Today, I got them cleaned up (surface rust), and primed.

Dang, no Amish around here. A few Rajneeshees, but they don't do much metal work.

So I had to cut the side aprons on my '50 PU from a hot water heater. Perfect curvature.
