Please look at this picture: http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2104980810080243953WGvuZq and give your best advice. It seems there is too much of a gap but it looks like some others I've seen here. What about the contact with the hood seal? It just doesn't seem right either. I've learned from you all many times so here I am asking once again. Thanks Bill

Loosen em up a bit and wiggle it around till it looks right.

Then I read over the 48-51 shop manual once again , & did as the book said to do I moved & added shims.
Now the Hood sits close to the cowel & tight to the weatherstriping also there is a lot less gap between the hood & fenders.

| | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,317 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,317 | I fought with the hood on my 54 truck..had an inch gap at the cowl.....finally figured out that it is a 3 person job! My hood now fits nice and tight at the cowl and fenders.
1. Loosen the 3 bolts on each side of the hood..one in the engine compartment, 2 on the inside. You don't need to remove the glove box.
2. Put a 4 inch block under the front hood latch pin, propping up the hood.
3. Helpers 1&2, one on each side of the hood at the cowl, pressing down and back with the flats of both hands.
4. #3 person snugs down the inside bolts. (2) on each side.
5. Raise the hood, tighten the remaining loose bolt on each hinge, and gently close the hood, checking for alignment.
6. To get the fenders/hood gaps even I adjusted the 3/8" firewall/core-support rods.
