Working on a '52 with a 235 6 cylinder, and with a T5 soon to be joined up to it. Would like to keep the factory pedal look, so prefer considering an underfloor mount set-up.

Seems like most power disc brake kits say they won't bolt up with a manual transmission, so will have to modify whatever to get things in order.

But any suggestions between the following:

1) CPP seems to have a complete it, but it is around ~$675 (+ shipping).

2) Speedway seems to offer the front disc brake kit and another kit with the booster/master cylinder. Seems like there is a decent cost savings here, but anyone have any experience with their brake kits?

3) Similarly, PirateJack has a pedal/booster/master cylinder combo that would work with Speedway's, or anyone else's front disc brake kit, still with a decent savings over the CPP kit.

Any experiences here?

Thanks for the link to the thread. It didn't have exactly what I was looking for, but in that thread it did mention the vendor POL, who I forgot about.

They look like they have a nice master cylinder/booster set-up, but it also has $100 shipping charges.

Summit Racing caries the CPP kits, offer free shipping, but they are not available until August.

Anyone have experience with the Speedway booster/master cylinder kits?

i installed the entire CPP system for a firewall mounted master, including their
under dash hanging pedal and brace.
5 lug rotors, roller bearing conversion, etc etc.
Expensive....yes.
But, went together without drama or calls to tech support!
Worked perfectly and stopped the panel on a dime.

It free’d up loads of room under the truck for exhaust options and clearances for Turbo 400.

I installed a CPP disc brake system in my 49-3100. No problems and it works very well. Spend the extra money! It is well worth it.

I bought the POL kit which included the front disc brakes, when I received the kit the instructions stated it would not work with manual transmissions. I called tech support because that info was not in their ad, and was told it was due to the shift linkage rods from the column shift. I told them I was using a toploader T5 transmission and they said that would work fine. After having the kit for some time I changed my mind and went with a dual master cylinder in the stock position without power boost.

My bad, for my 1953 AD truck.

I have a 51 3100 with disc brakes on all four corners. The rear end is a 9" F**d with discs out of a 77 Lincoln. The same Lincoln donated it's 4 wheel disc master cylinder. I installed it with no power booster and have EXCELLENT brakes. The stock pedal to master cylinder mechanical advantage ratio really negates the need for power brakes. The pedal effort is the same as any of my modern vehicles with power brakes.

To bring you back to earth in a straight forward manner. (saves time)

You may be using a limited budget for something you don't need. Use your limited budget for things you do need. Don't buy a lot of stuff before you get the bones done. You said the trans is not installed yet. Many newbe's think buying a bunch of stuff is building a truck. That's why there are so many "projects" for sale with gobs of unused parts. Get the basic truck built with blood, sweat and tears, then the goodies.
A 52 235 does not "need" power disc brakes. Especially if you are skimping right now. Go out there and work on it. Brakes can be done anytime or last.
I am a mechanical engineer also. "Interference" is just a minor fun challenge for us. So don't sweat that.

I have 1954 235 with an s10 5 speed under floor master cylinder I have used for 33,000 miles and 10 years with no problems. I did install a remote fill on the firewall.

My 54 with 235 and s-10 5 speed has a simple drum drum 69 mustang master cyl under floor for over 23 + years now 290,000 miles. Just made a simple square plate and welded it too,the frame. 67 bucks total. Uses stock pedals and simple push rod with heim joint. Do it a lot on stock ADs so it's hidden but is dual line and much safer. Mustang master has the benefit of simple residuals built in. They also come in disc drum. I would not be buying anymore parts from CCP as we have had 3 major failures with brake kits and steering........they better get their ......together. But I suspect they won't be around long if they keep copying China crap.

47hotrod, have you incorporated a small diameter booster with any of your Mustang master cylinder conversions? If so I'm interested (and suspect many others would be as well) in hearing the details.
