Or is it equal where this mark shows? Ask Wolfgang I'm working on a Chevy Pickup 3600, build 1953 with an 235 cui engine. Jon G Moderator, Electrical Bay J Joined: Mar 2014 Posts: 4,510 Dallas, TX	The last pistons I bought with a notch in the top were designed so the mark faced the front of the engine, Wolfgang. You should also see marks on the piston rings which show which side faces the top (usually a tiny o is stamped into them). Jon ~ Jon 1952 1/2 ton with 1959 235 \| T5 with 3.07 rear end

truckernix 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 Bracebridge Ontario Canada	If you are talking about a Chevrolet 216, the original pistons did not have a front and back. After market aluminum pistons sometimes had a slot in one of the thrust faces and it was intended to go on a specific side. Somewhere around 1954, 235s had an offset wristpin and those pistons were definitely made to go in one way only. 1951 GMC 1 Ton Flatbed -- It is finally on the road and what a great time I have driving it! 1951 1 Ton Completed My Chevy Master 4 Door is on the Road!

When installed correctly, the stamped number is on the camshaft side of the engine. -Tom 1950 Chevy 3100 w/ 1956 235
