Don huffer Shop Shark D Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 370 Cape Coral Florida	I have a 49 3600 with an Eaton ho52 rear end. I need to replace the pinion bearings. Are the bearings the same regardless of the gears? Are the 5:14 bearings the same size as the 4:10 bearings? I swapped out the 5:14 and installed the 4:10 but the pinion bearings are bad. I did a practice round on the 5:14 punkin and removed the pinion. Are these bearings the same? Can I order off these? Thanks Don Can’t begin to tell you how much I hate the name Stovebolt.

The Pinion Bearing Assembly for your truck was originally GM part # 609864 superseded to: GM # 442093 in March , 1951 . This bearing assembly is available from: Collectors Auto - phone: 800 - 414 - 4462 You will need lot's of other parts to do this repair the right way . I have photos & part numbers of the parts you'll need . Important note on this bearing assembly . You will need to make sure the bearing assembly is still wired together . This is the way GM made the assembly at the factory . GM custom fit the spacer . The Bearing Assembly is stamped : HY 305396ZD - made in the USA . GM # 5.622 - GM # 3686563 superseded to : GM # 3743202 I believe the interchange part # is # 2081 for Timkin or National or Moog brands . I'm only into GM NOS parts so I went with GM original parts . You will probably wind up using ( 2 ) different size shims . I called them to see if they had any of the carrier cap gaskets referenced above, #3682147, and the rear spring pins, #3656669, and the guy that answered the phone said all the small parts are boxed up in the basement and it's not worth their time to find them.
