When I bought my truck, the PO (high school kid) drove it around the block once with no brakes and used the front grille and his friend's new pickup truck to stop the old truck. This is only one of many stupid things he did to it in the few short months he owned it.

My question is, is it worth getting this thing straightened, disassembled and chromed? Or is this a lost cause? There are pictures of the grille on my webshots page. The budget on this project is getting tighter by the day and I wouldn't want to spend much more than the cost of a repro grille for this work.

To me that grille doesn't look too bad. In fact it's not much worse than mine was when I first got it. I didn't send mine out to get straightened, I just took my time with hammer and dollies and have it about 95% straight now. Mine won't be chromed though just painted. A good chrome job will more likely than not cost more than a repro grille I imagine.

Repairing & chroming a grill is labor intensive and quite expensive. My grill required no repairs & rechroming cost me almost $700. If you have a repop available of acceptable quality, that is probably the most economicial way to go. If, on the other hand, you're wanting to keep your truck original you'll need to bite the bullet & get a bandage for your bank account. grin

Anyone know of a good source for a 40 grill? Mine has no dents but is pretty badly pitted. Hate to think of painting it. If I were to bite the bullet are there good recromers out there. The ones around here have a very wide range of mixed reviews.
