Hello, my 57-3100 looks to have the original fuel sending unit and dash gauge for fuel. The gauge has always jumped around quite a bit while I’m driving, at least 1/4 tank amount on the gauge when running, meaning when it’s full it jumps from 3/4 to full. It seems to do that throughout the cycle from full to empty, although empty is before the dot for empty. I purchased a new sending unit to have on hand when I remove the one in the gas tank, but I also be thinking about the Guage? Your thoughts are appreciated! Kevin

If you have a stock tank,it won't have baffles in it. The gauge moving while driving is quite normal in my truck.

Wow, hadn’t thought of that, I do hear swishing from time to time so maybe no baffles are in there, I’ll check when I open it up, thanks,kevin

If you know how, hysteresis can be added to you fuel gauge to slow down the movement of the needle. This would take place at the gauge itself and is pretty simple with a little math or ‘seat of your pants’ on the work bench using capacitors.

When my needle stops jumping around, I know that I have 2 gallons left and I need get ready to call someone to bring me gas because I will forget to stop for gas because I am stupid like that...
