The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop 261 engine color - Suggestions?

I'm getting close to painting the block and head prior to assembley. The side cover, oil pan, MC lid, and dual air cleaners will be polished steel, clear coated with high temp powder matching my current valve cover. The carbs and edelbrock intake will also be polished. The inner fenders will remain black, all the engine tubing will be stainless or black. The tranny, bellhousing, waterpump, thermohousing, MC body, will be painted w/ Chevy Dutys' high temp "stainless" manifold coating as they are now. The headers are ceramic coated with "Chromex" and will remain the same.
So... for the block and the head. I'm still undecided. My current choices are the stock, light blue that is on my original 235, the "stainless" color as on the parts listed above(you can also see that color in my pics), or maybe that gray color from the earlier 261s. Any suggestions?

Early 261s were green or yellow (unless you have a Canadian Pontiac 261).

Jim Carter sells a green spray-can paint for the 261. . The paint brand/code is posted in earlier thread (a "search" should find it).

Thanks Tim, you're the man! Maybe I was thinking early 216s? I'd like to see pics of the yellow or green 261s. The yellow is out of the question, but I'd still like to see a pic. The green might be cool. The $9.95 for the spray can is cool too

A paint code and color sample is in the thread at the link above. The green cap on the spray can that I got from JC is a little lighter shade. I saw a yellow 261 engine in an unrestored tow truck. Sorry no color sample for the yellow.
