I'm ready to choose a floor shift for my 54 3100 with a bench seat and 350 TH automatic. The Lokar units look well made to me. Still need to decide on the height and shape of the shifter handle. Of course I want it to miss the dash and seat and be within a comfortable reach. What works for you?

Used a Lokar Nostalgia 17" in my old '37 Olds Streetrod. Lokar is quality stuff but you pay for the quality.

I have a Lokar shifter for my T350, I believe it's the 16" long lever. I started with the 23" long and then went to the shorter lever. The shifter works good, only complaint is the cable inside that moves with the push button rattles all the time. Being a trans mounted shifter, the vibrations from the motor come up through the shifter and shake it around. If I could, I would switch to floor mount. Even a smooth running engine will cause the long shift lever to vibrate and rattle. Locker suggested some thick grease in on the cable, it helped for a while, now I just steady it with a light pressure while driving.

I've had Lokar trans mount floor shifters in my '32 Ford roadster street rod with both the previous TH 350 trans and the present 200 4R. Both of those shifters are, in my opinion, very high quality that one rarely sees anymore in this era of crap from China. I opted for short shift handles, unlike the longer handles that Joe used. That may be the reason that I had absolutely no problems with noise or vibration of the lever.

As others point out Lokar parts are expensive but quality usually is.

A buddy of mine was an automotive professional and he was once at a trade show where Lokar had a booth. Some Chinese were there photographing the Lokar stuff so they could make bootleg copies and the Lokar crew had to call security to have the Chinese ejected. It's said that "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".
