I am in Virginia Beach and would like to know who would like to convoy on up to Headquarters for Homecoming. We can exchange means of communications and set up meeting places and times for joining the convoy. I think it would be a blast, and add a safety aspect to the trip, should someone were to break down.

Depending on when you plan to go, I invite you to join the sprint from Fredericksburg to HQ!

we have not made any detail plans yet, but hopefully there will be a couple from Lexington going north, Cosmo joining the group in Charlottesville, on to Fredericksburg and joining the sprint to HQ.
Did not quite work that way last year, but we will try again this year.

Yes, I bet we can make a lot better time this year than we (I) did last year.

I am hoping to hear from some folks from North and South Carolina. What time does everyone want to arrive at HQ on Friday (or Saturday if not Friday)?

Leo, (53 Panel) should be coming by you on his way.
He goes thru Buffalo I think.

No reservations required, unless you stay in a local hotel.

Hey panel fan, I intend to go. I've been three times already. Always a good time. I'm within an hour, just north of you.

You don't need reservations, just go to the link John set up and let them know you intend to come. I generally camp there, the property is better than most official campgrounds.

I will be setting up the "Reservation" thread soon. Please wait for that thread to let us know who's coming. And yes, we will need to know who's coming for meal planning and other quasi-important logistics smile (Such as reserving the plastic portable mud shark aquariums ... Free Willy!)

Panelfan ... yes. Despite our very best efforts, those pesky people from Canada (is Ontario actually part of Canada?? quebec) keep getting in every year. I can't figure out how they get past the dog... wink They are probably working with the Aussies (who also seem to sneak by the dog somehow ...)

Chris, you are probably right. He was working with that shifty fellow from PA (AKA Chrome Dome) who the dog actually likes...

Nothing more fun than hijacking a Carl Thread smile BTW, received imagery from a clandestine source that appears to show the Dog Whisperer (more like the Beer Whisperer...) in intense training for his/your upcoming LDT infiltration mission ...

You need to get out more. smile
Now that I think about it, I may have been guilty of it once, but I may be mistaken. Then again, the last time I was mistaken, I was mistaken about being mistaken.
Now what were we talking about again?
Oh yes, the corn borers. You need to burn the crops.

I'm doing some serious planning. I'd really like to make it this year. I could leave as early as Thursday. I'd like to arrive early Friday, so I'd probably spend Thursday night at a motel. My wife is concerned that my 63 will break down. My 65 has a better drive train and all the windows, but it's not been put back together because I'm spending time trying to finish my shop.

Anyway, I'd sure like some company along the drive. My route would be almost 100% Interstate 95 from SC.

If I-95 takes you to Fredrecksburg some of us will be passing through mid morning Friday.

Although if I were you RT 301 is a more leisurely way out of Richmond and on to the Homecoming.

But I don’t care for I-95 much at all.

Where in SC are you leaving from, might be nicer yet alternatives.

I plan on being at HQ Thursday some time mid day.
Set up the fry station, visit, then go to the Sandgate for seafood.
After that to the Country Inn for a good night's sleep.
The rest of the weekend I will stay at HQ after we take it over.

You will be a big player in the LDT invasion force!

I can meet up with you somewhere near Richmond Virginia. You let me know when you want to meet me there. PM me with details when you figure it out. It takes me about 2 hours to get to Richmond.

As far as I am concerned, Thursday is a setup day, help/visit/relax and recoup from the drive.
Then a seafood meal and a good night's sleep.
Should be at HQ by noon Friday.

Great Chris!
But I will prefer late afternoon. Check into the hotel before dark.
Any locals have a better place close, to get fresh crabs? Pun intended.
The Sandgates Inn was recommended last year and it is close.
And for a midwesterner, it was good and the staff/owner treated me right.
Anybody else want to join us?

Don,
I'm kinda partial to Clarkes Landing myself. But you can't go wrong with Sandgates. Mike Roache or the 'Bone might have other suggestions, too.

Tim, As it sounds like you are deeply troubled, the ODSS Crisis Counseling and Intervention Team is standing by to assist you with getting your issues sorted. chug

Back On Topic -- As we try to do every year, if the Southern Convoy will keep us apprised of schedule, the Welcoming Committee will attempt a rendezvous for the final leg of your journey and arrival.

I just received a PM from Lugnutz from South Carolina and we are trying to figure out where to meet and at what time in order to arrive at headquarters by noonish on Friday.
Sweet in Fredericksburg might be joining us as we pass thru his neck of the woods.

If you guys can hop onto 301 between Richmond and Fredericksburg we can meet along 301. Perhaps we could have a Meryland delegation meet at the river for escort to HQ.

Where are you meeting Lugnutz?
