Then the cylinders are bored close to finish diameter and the final size and cross hatch pattern is done with a hone. Jerry

If someone needs a block bored, bring it with you, along with the new pistons you want to install. I'll see if we can send you home with a bored and honed engine to assemble. Include the main bearing caps- - - - -with the main caps installed and torqued it stabilizes the block for the boring operation. Jerry
