Has the dates for the 2018 Stovebolt Homecoming been set? If so, when and where?

Just looked up your location and you are about 20 miles away from the annual epic event.
Sorry, but you will not qualify to be a LDT member (Long Distance Team).
I am planning on attending again this year.
Be prepared to work, get dirty, learn/share and eat good.

I'm waiting for our Oz contingent to announce that he's made his reservations so I can announce that we're not having it this year .... wink

Last weekend in April. Historic downtown Oakville, MD (part of the greater Mechanicsville metroplex)

"Last weekend in April"- - - - -Got any funny hats and party favors? That's about the time of my birthday! (4/27) 72 years old this time around.

Would anyone be interested in a cylinder boring demo? I think my old Van Norman boring bar is still in working shape, and I just might have my adapter plate for boring the rear of the block for a full circle seal set up by then.

I can think of two 261's in the immediate area needing tear down/forensics/possible boring...

Sounds interesting- - - - -to do a bore job properly, the new pistons need to be on hand, so the present bore size (standard or oversize) and the amount of wear that needs to be corrected needs to be known before the boring begins. Then the cylinders are bored close to finish diameter and the final size and cross hatch pattern is done with a hone.

For a demo like that, we'll have to set up bleachers and security.

I would be so interested in seeing your boring demo Jerry!! I'm planning on doing a rebuild this year (non-GM) and I'm wondering how much I could do on my own because machine shop prices are through the roof around here!
Hope you can pull it off!

I haven't had as many birthdays as HRL, but I have celebrated all of them on the same day, April 27. All I ask is that everyone try to keep the gifts to no more than $500.00. Anything over that amount makes me blush...
I will be at this one, wife or high water.

I'm planning to bring my boring bar and a retired 235 splasher block to demonstrate a few procedures on. If someone needs a block bored, bring it with you, along with the new pistons you want to install. I'll see if we can send you home with a bored and honed engine to assemble. Include the main bearing caps- - - - -with the main caps installed and torqued it stabilizes the block for the boring operation.
