I'm restoring a '57 stepside 31 and need front fenders. The truck is identical to my dad's truck of the late 50's and I want to fix it up and surprise him. Does anyone have any leads or have recommendations? For instance, are the fiberglass replacement fenders any good? I'm trying to keep costs down. Both of my fenders have rust-rot and have been spliced together from front and rear halves. Did the factory ever do this? Thanks!

They make aftermarket fenders for these trucks. Just look thro a resto catalog like one from LMC, chevy duty, chevies of the 40's etc. Heck even look on ebay. Aftermarket panels will need some massaging to fit correctly, as will ANY panel you buy. The best thing would try and find some good clean rust free fenders, but for a truck that 50yr old and located in New York thats a pretty tall order. But then you would have to repair them. So if you are trying to keep costs down, Id go with aftermarket STEEL fenders, leave the plastic for the vettes...Eric | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 443 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 443 | You can check the swap meet forum under truck parts for sale to see if anyone has used fenders for sale. You can also post under truck parts wanted, just list what you are looking for and see if anyone has fenders they want to sell. BTW, welcome to the Stovebolt page.
