Hey everyone! Im almost complete with my build, but i wanted to start this thread in advance, incase anyone has any questions on how to LS swap their AD trucks.

Right now mine has a Twin Turbo 4.8 out of a 2004 GMC Sierra, completely stock bottom and top end.

Parts list: (will be updating)

I admire the work and skill it took to accomplish this but I question how/where you will ever get enough traction to to utilize it.

Awesome! Makes you get weepy eyed thinking about firing up a new motor. Congratulations!

Who needs traction with a 55mph speed limit? Just because the speedo says the tires are turning at 55mph doesn't mean the radar will!

Congratulations! Looking forward to driving reports for sure.

As the owner of a V8 Miata, I can testify to the fact that traction is not a prerequisite to enjoying the drive.

Good Luck, RonR

Very cool. What are you using for engine management? In the video you mention HP Tuners. I would be interested in what was involved as far as an ECM. It should be more interesting when you can hook the turbos to the plenum.

Thanks for any electronics info;

Be sure to show some completed pictures of the install. We have done about a dozen LS installs into AD trucks and have never been totally satisfied with the wiring components and the induction routing. The 52 in then shop right now has the 430hp LS3 and is ready for a trip to the muffler shop. The computer/controller units are firewall mounted to expose to cooling air and are ugly. Since one has to use an electric fan on an LS there is no room for the induction tube so we use a modified exhaust elbow for a large diesel truck which is also ugly. Would like to see some tidier set up. The best routing for the main wire harness that we have come up with is just under the driver side firewall to fender brace rod and once again it wins no beauty prize. The NA engine like this are tricky to control wheel spin so the twin turbo set up should be a hoot.

Evan, I'm a huge fan of wire/hose tucks. A good friend just installed Vintage Air in his 71 340 Duster show car and between mounting the compressor down low and running the ac lines in outside the engine compartment in the fender well it's pretty much invisible. Have you guys tried same (using wire tuck techniques)?

Otherwise, just keep the hood closed smile

Like this idea. We are also doing a 73 Barracuda which no longer offered a 440 but this one is getting one with a 4sp that has the original pistol grip shifter. If your Buddy would allow a pic of his Duster I sure would like to take a peek.

I'll see what I can do next week. I need to put a few miles on my Duster and he's currently resurrecting a 73 Barracuda 340 (no not a Cuda) a very high optioned automatic car with low miles he picked up for a song. Had the complete front cap off a few weeks ago correcting some bodyshop repairs from the distant past. I need to check on progress (make appropriate constructive criticisms and so forth don'tcha ya know).

Off topic I know, apologies offered. I'll PM any images.

RonR
