Well, thanks for all the excellent help & advice,
because of it....I've decided to do a full overhaul.

Originally, this engine was a PowerGlide with Hydraulics, ('53 235 FP)
at some point it was changed over to "Stick" trans and Solid lifters, cam & pushrods.
I'm staying with the Stick.

My question is what's the "Pros & Con" of new Hydraulics -vs- Solids?
What should I go with?
Thanks, Jim

I thought that there were absolutely no new hydraulic lifters available for our engines?

Let's hear from pros on these questions, Jim

If you are sure your engine's cam was changed to a mechanical lifter cam, or not, and you are going to replace the cam, I'd go with the mechanical lifter set-up (all cam/lifter/rocker-arm parts).

It looks like hydraulic lifters are available?
