I am looking into a few of the options. Much appreciated. Now for my next question. I've got a 77 GMC 1/2 ton and a 49 GMC 1/2 ton. From all the reading I've been doing I know I've got huck brakes for my 49. They came in a few buckets so I don't even know if all the parts are there. There's new cylinders, drums and shoes. I tried do do a search to see if I could find some pictures of the huck system but came up empty. I've read that the huck system has a few downsides. What I'd like to know is can I take the whole braking system from my 77 GMC 1/2 ton and put it on my 49? Or should I buy conversion kits for the front and back instead. I am going to take off the cover for the rear end and count the teeth to see what gear ratio I have. If it's okay I will leave that rearend in there for now. I am looking at putting a 305 into the truck soon. My main objective is to have a safer truck so my kids can drive it. Got a daughter that just turned 16 and she's anxious to get behind the wheel with her friends. | | |

You will need to use the chevy 4X4 rotors and calipers, which may or may not be the same calipers that you have on the GMC. Buffalo is the company name that makes the brackets. I think they have a link in the link section.

Its not really trivial, but it is a good modification if there was one.
