i have a 64 chevy an a parts truck and i've been thinking bout cutting the back off of the parts truck an making a extened cab will this be a real big pain in d @$$

What about the frame?
It will need to be longer. I've read a little of your 1st post( about advice for your 64) but didn,t keep up with all of it or what your final thoughts are.

I would not make it to dificult or you may not finish. Make sure you have fun with and it will always be your truck personalized in your own way.If you truly want extended cab go for it!
The skys the limit and everything is possible.

ken thats anthor ? if i make it extended cab i want a short bed i have along bed now so how much do i have 2 + an - from the frame have any of ya'll done it im really thinking bout it

You mean like this? Actually this is a truck I found a picture of online and spent a few minutes playing with in Photoshop. I had seriously thought about modifying my '65... but then I looked inside the cab. The outside would be a piece of cake, the inside with the punched tin roof and curve that starts right at the back of the door makes it a little more difficult. You'd definately need a donor cab to make it look right.

There is a 64-66 near here in a yard that looks like the one LeeA photochopped. Very cool looking, but of course whoever did it did not finish the truck. Another old yard has a '66 C20 Custom Camper someone took another cab & made a crew cab, this truck looks like it was finished(painted blue in/out, & has a headliner inside-hardboard covered w/vinyl)& then they guy decided to widen the bed(for a dually rear),then it was stowed away & then salvaged. I got a pair of sweet doors off of it for $50 & the factory A/C also. Brian

if u put chrome rims an bigger tires on that truck it would look alot better

That's beyond my Photoshop skills... unless you want something that would look like a 3 year old drew it.

well if i do it i have the donnor cab how much of what do i need to cut or add ?

However much you want to extend it. In my picture you'd have to print it out and take some measurements off the picture. I don't know how you'd create the exterior body curves, I'd probably consider cutting up a door to start with. On the inside you'll have to patch in the stamped roof section. I think you'd have to cut up along the edge of the door, come across the drip rail and then cut across the roof to do it right. Cut where you can patch in flat metal. Then you come to the new window question...

I once saw an old ford that had beed done this way. He put a short bed on a long wheelbase truck and extended the cab to fill in the difference. You should be alble to measure a long bed and a short bed and tell how much the cab needs to be extended.

12 inches. 115 to 127 wheelbase.
