I read a post recently (can't find it now) about possible nerve damage using this product or maybe a product like this (rust encapsulator). I'm wondering if anyone out there has experienced this, what are the symptoms, does it get progressively worse, is there anything that can be done about it?

only yer doctor can tell you what yer symptoms indicate and the prognosis!

best to check a products' MDS info before use - don't know about nerve damage, but it'll sure mess up yer lungs

A number of years ago, I sprayed a frame in an open garage with POR-15 with no mask. That night I was in the hospital with pneumonia. This stuff is nothing to play around with. It's good, but you have to protect yourself.

I called POR-15 to discuss with them after the fact and they asked me 'if I could read'. Their instructions are clear about the dangers.

Check the web page for "Rust Bullet". I have used it only with a brush so I'm unaware of the problems, if any, with spraying it. The product worked fine for me and is not a two part set-up.

The word to watch for is Isocyanates which all the moisture cured urethanes contain. You can do a web search and come up with a bunch of information.
Isocyantes are one reason you don't see a lot of old painters around.... Very prevalent in the catalyzed 2 component paint systems used automotively today. It may appear they would not be in the moisture cures because they are a single package product, but you can bet your hat and the house cat, they are.

The requirements are almost uniformly for fresh air supplied breathing gear as the iso's are odorless and you cant tell when you may have lost your seal of a full face mask and are breathing it.....

Spend a few hundred dollars on a fresh air system when spraying any kind of paint.
Life is to precious. And the older you get the more you realize it.

Thanks for all the input guys; I used this stuff over a year ago, had a good mask with fresh filters, hood, goggles, face mask, coveralls, rubber gloves, etc. But I did see a post somewhere that you need a fresh air mask. Got me a little worried.

that is where it STAYS..the same for everything mentioned above...I always wear rubber gloves and
long sleeve shirts because any materials that enter
pores like thinners, hardners, ect...is very dangerous by causing You serious health problems.

this kind of product when misused will eventually allow you to be picked as a lucky candidate for CHEMOTHERAPHY!

You should always have good ventaliation and where a mask when painting period.

My second on this. All solvent based stuff absorbs through your skin. All damage your body, some take longer than others. Always have proper ventilation!
