Is there a pin or screw in what appears to be a very small hole in the handle base?

It's a dinky pin! Tap it out..there is a wave washer behind it..don't let it fly.

No, you don't have to take it off to remove the vent window glass.

I thought maybe if i could get it off i might be able to figure something out.
