so last wendsday I bought an engine, found a guy locally that has a shop and he'd just gotten it from someone doing a V8 swap in a car. Turns out he is friends with the guy I bought my truck from!
The motor is a 1961 235. Got it for $450. I had Brad who I got my truck from go look at it and they ran it. Said it held 40 lbs of oil pressure and compression was 130! Assuming the people who had the car can be trusted, the said the motor has less than 40,000 original miles on it.
I've gotta get it cleaned up, not rusty just paint is shot and oil a grease all over it which I guess isnt bad. Gonna paint it magenta to match the fenders on my truck.
As far as the truck, I unbolted the front end and set the whole assembly to the side and the old motor is out as of yesterday. Used a tractor to get the old motor out but gonna have to see if i can get a friend with a lift to help put the new motor in.

If the people bought the car new (or, they have dated mileage records), that mileage can be trusted. Or, just trust them - it looks like you got a very good engine. You'll find out for sure, when/if you rebuild the block (and see the bearing & piston sizes).

Great engine, great vintage, good price! Lucy is going to be a new machine after the transplant and you’re gonna love the difference! If you use the valve cover off the old 216, it’s likely that only you and Lucy will ever notice the scars of the surgery.
