I recently got a 1959 Viking series 60 truck. The Truck has been in the family since it was purchased brand new. My dad remembered when his grandfather drove it off the car lot in 1959. Eventually my grandfather got his hands on it. He took the grain box off of it and put it on an International Over Cab truck, which has been sold years ago.
Also had welded an extra axle on the back to carry heavier loads, which has been removed. Everything he touch it broke. Thankfully the Viking was tough enough to go through my grandpa's hands. The Viking will start and run with a little work with starter fluid and turning it over a few times. So, the truck is in working order, except a few odds and ends missing. I do have a few questions to for it tough:

1. I am have trouble trying to cross reference what it is classified in looking up parts.
example - Rockauto - difference between a 3100 and a 3B.
I had to buy a oil cartage and it requires a V8 oil filter. Though it is a 6 cylinder

2. I want to put a Grain box back on, but I don't know the dimensions. I figured I might have to build one.

3. I was wondering where I could purchase new cables for it. Like the choke cable.

Other than that, it is in very good condition beside the rust around the top of the windshield and the doors.
I will post some pictures soon. I have a like to a video that I posted on Youtube awhile ago.

I am not a 1959 Grain Truck expert. Though my son just bought a 1959 C 60
2 ton truck. It has a 283 and a 5 speed. It is raining today. Forecast to rain
tomorrow. Though when things dry out I will measure the bed for you.

Hi, welcome to the site! I have a 58 Viking 60. (6400). Your Viking 60 is not a 3800, it is probably a 6400 or 6500 (difference in frame length). Choke cable should be the same as a smaller truck (3100, 3600, 3800) as they are pretty much the same cab and doors (grill and fenders wider, hood is also the same). Most cab parts and controls are the same as the smaller trucks. If you are looking on Napa's website, you need to change the vehicle type to medium/heavy duty, then your 6400 will show up.

Mine has an 8x13 bed on it but, it is not a factory bed, the original owner made it (or so I was told by his son)

Wow, thank you! From both posts. I am usually good with figuring out cars because my dad taught me so much from working on VW's. Changing head gaskets, clutches, and injectors. Though older Chevy's through me a loop, especially when I was told that my inline 6 took a V8 oil filter/cartridge. At the moment I am dealing with is the brakes. I have figured the master cylinder seals are worn out. I have gotten the bleeders loose on all the wheels except one wheel. That surprised me!

you also will have 2 bleeders on top of the hydrovac unit. Here is a link to an online manual for a 55.2 truck. Brakes should be the same except the hydrovac unit is on the pass side on the 55, driver side on yours.

I got my cylinder kits from Rock Auto if I remember correctly. There were 2 styles of cups in the Rear wheel cylinders so, need to pull it apart and see what you have. You should also replace all the hard and soft brake lines as they for from the inside out. They may look OK on the outside and still be paper thin! Napa and Raybestos part #s below that I found. Raybestos were bought from RockAuto Napa #s are UPxxx Raybestos are the others, sorry the columns didn't come across properly.

The length of your grain bed would be somewhat dependent on the length of your truck frame. Also on how much it overhangs in the back. 12' to 14' is fairly common on those trucks.
