Hey Bolters, I need some assistance identifying this Trans Cover. I bought it some years ago from a fellow Bolter for my '59 when I opted to install an SM-420 Transmission. It fit onto the floor but didn't match up to the gear shift location. Also, the gas pedal holes were cross ways and it doesn't have a hump. It's like the flat type for a column shift light duty truck. I suspect it came from a big bolt truck but not sure what. Can anyone help please? I'm putting it up for sale and just need to identify it. See pics. Thank you.

well, it IS a 5-9 cover for a column shift, but with the hand brake slot it would be a 1T and up, shift hole could be for a "PowerMatic" if it doesn't match a 420

Thanks Bill, I'm not at all familiar with the "PowerMatic". Is it an automatic transmission for a big truck? If so, the flat cover versus hump style would be correct for it?

It looks like the Powermatic transmission was a 6-speed automatic used on big trucks in 1959 (6000-10000 series).

On different size trucks, it was used a 6-cyl (261) or 8-cyl engines (maybe 248 &/or 283 &/or 322?).

Is there a colored ID tag on the transmission?

yes, 6 speed automatic for 2T, just a thought because of the different shifter hole paired with the driveshaft brake

Guys sorry I'm late getting back to your replies.
Tim, I bought the cover for my '59 truck when I switched over from 3'sp column with an SM-318 to a 4 speed on the floor.
The seller couldn't tell me what it came out of and I bought it from the pictures, based on the shifter hole and E-Brake slot since I have an E-Brake on the SM-420.
I acquired some learning from that. First, that a humped version of the cover was required for my SM-420!
I just need to get this cover out of my garage and wanted to identify it properly.

I'd love to see a pic of this type of cover used with the "Powermatic" and E-Brake in a big bolt. Does anyone have one they could share?

Thanks again!
Jerry
