Has anyone used Darryl's in the recent past and had success? I have been waiting for 47' California plates to be done since Feb 2017. I call every two-three weeks and its the same story, waiting for the special paint for 47' California, he'll get to them soon, he only has two hands, etc....
They cashed my check back in May; the lady there argued with me and hung up. So surprised and disappointed in them since they quoted 3-months; who knows if ill ever get them!
Buyer be ware!!!!

Buyer Beware, Indeed!

Forewarned is helpful for us.

In the future, I'd ask for:
- charge card or PayPal payment
- allow up to 15 days wait for work to be done and shipping confirmed
- only then should charge be processed
- one week to receive/delivery
- after one week, cancel charge payment

Of course, they have your plate/plates - they have got you by the tender parts.

Good luck, but you might have a vendor competing with Patrick's in terms of honesty.

Do we need a Tech Tip with a list of "Buyer Beware" vendors? Seems of late we are getting quite a few poor or no service complaints.🛠

Martin,
I think that would be helpful to many of us.

Hello, so part of the point of this post is asking if anyone else has dealt with them, successful or never received their plates

Lou, I doubt that any of our regular contributors have dealt with him. Restoring plates is a task most try to do themselves, at least on the first try. It is a shame that some offering services choose to take folks hard earned money and run with it. shake

Over a decade ago I used MoJo Artworks for my original NY 1954 Suburban plate.
He/They were fast and the work-quality was (and, is still) very good.

I bought two matching 1939 Georgia plates from Jimsoldp8s out of West Virginia. I met he and his wife in Charlotte two years ago. He had a matching set and told me he would have them in abou 6 to 8 weeks if I recall because they were doing the show circuit. As promised I received them in the time frame. I even paid up front with a credit card. I can post photos. I recommend Jim.

Have to agree with Martin. Seems the trend these days with a lot of vendors.....Poor quality or poor customer service. No one seems to take pride in what they do anymore.....just get that money! What a shame.
