I'm thinking of getting a '65 Suburban that is complete, but it is not running. It has the original 292 and a 4 speed. They are asking $1600 for it. Overall, it looks pretty straight and solid.

Think it is worth getting?

Pre-1985 vehicles don't require a title in Georgia.

How many seats are in it? The seats alone anymore are worth that, that's the rear narrow and wide seat. If your interested in this type of vehicle, the 65 / 66 are probably the easiest to still get parts for and probably have fewer issues to deal with than say a 60 - 63, or earlier. I don't know about back there, but out here on the west coast, that would not last long if it's not rotten. That's if it's not someone's cobbled up mess.

** Just look at the price of early 50's Suburban. The price has gone through the roof the last few years. I would expect the 65 to do close to the same thing.

The '65 has a bench seat from another vehicle, but they also have a '66 that might still have the original seats.

I have a 66, and I have been trying to find pricing on it out here for the last couple of years, and I just don't see them on the market anymore. Just make sure the floors under that rubber mat and the roof line are not rusted. If it had a leak in the windshield gasket, it will rust out at the base of the kick panel, and they have a tendency for the roof to rust thru just a hair above the drip rail. If it's good that way, I would surely think it's worth that kind of money. You don't get much these days in a vehicle for that money unless it's a real toad.

I took a look at the '65 yesterday, but when I looked at the '66, I decided to buy that one instead. I purchased it for $600. It will need a lot of work, but I believe the price was right.

1. Original drive line is intact. Engine was free, and transmission seemed to be OK. (250 or 292 inline 6 & SM420? transmission)

2. VIN plate is intact. (C1466B108439)

3. All glass is free of chips and cracks.

4. Original split front seat.

5. All doors are good.

6. Wood is in good condition.

7. Inside fenders are free of dents and rust.

8. Sides, roof and gutters are good, except for bottom of the rear quarter panels.

9. Solid frame.

The front bumper and grille are damaged, and the hood, fenders, rockers and floor need repair or replacement.

This truck apparently was a military vehicle. Original color was olive drab.

Looks like it has the usual body rot. But for that kind of money it's hard to go wrong. If you can do the sheet metal your self it's definitely worth it l think.
