BPS Implement Paint (need something black, cheap thats going to hold up to the elements for a year or so). So i need to know if i should use the BPS primer as well? tractor paint, I've sprayed it before. I think it was Valspar brand, not BPS. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 56 Member | | Member Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 56 | if you used the "rusty metal primer" from rustoleum you could be in for some problems with your top coats due to the "fish oil" base... that oil will bleed through and your top coats will peel off in fairly short order... check the rustoleum website and they give more info on the subject...

I have noticed that they look great inside but sometimes have a strange color in good light. THis might be a rattlecan thing. I noticed it when I used rustoleum professional (better than average high gloss) to paint over some rust on my black 64. I did it to keep it from rusting more till I can get it done right.

The BPS black is good stuff. It comes out glossy and is a breeze to work with.
The Valspar/BPS primer is not too bad either. Not as easy as the black paint, but be patient and it will turn out nice.
After using BPS/Valspar, I don't plan on using much rust-o-leum for the visible stuff. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 | Black is a funny pigment. It often contains a lot of red.
Recently our local election precinct changed the vote-by-mail ballot instructions to use blue pen or pencil rather than black pen, because the black ink had so much red in it that it messed with the ballot counting machines.
