My 53 3600 3/4 ton truck needs new brake shoes, brake drums, and the spring sets. I found everything I need BUT the spring sets!!! Anyone know a place that sells these?? It seems like you can find anything for a 1/2 ton 3100. But when it comes to the 3/4 ton 3600 trucks, no one has what your looking for.

I believe the 53 3/4 ton has Bendix brakes while the 52 was Huck brakes. The parts do not interchange.

as far as I know 51 was the change year for huck to bendix. I have seem some early 51 year hucks on the swaps we do and I think GMC was a year lower or higher on the huck change.
With that said you can swap a huck for a bendix if you have the parts and backing plates. The upper spindle bolts on huck should be 7/16 while the bendix are half inch
If you have bendix you can use up to 59 for springs and parts

1951 model-year was the year for Chevrolet 1/2 ton brake changed to Duo-Servo single anchor type (Bendix, not Huck.

Model year and calendar year might not coincide - model year might have changed before the end of the previous calendar year (1953 model year starting in late 1952, for example). Also, old style brake equipment might have been installed until it ran out?

Most likely, the change to Bendix brakes in 3/4 ton and larger came in 1953 model year?

As a point of information, my 51, 3600 has Hucks. Sure wish they were Bendix. Someday.

I saw in Classic Parts catalogue that they have the springs for 3/4 and 1 tons. It lists them from 47-52, not sure if 53 is different but you could check with them or compare your spring to the ones on their website.

The Napa catalog shows the parts for 53-59 3/4 ton with 12 in. brakes front & rear. Return springs 80301. Hold down kit 80412. These are a set for one axle.

Yes, thanks George! Last time I was in Napa trying to find these my parts guy Doug ( who is very knowledgable) couldn't track them down. I will save this thread for when my old springs probably snap!
