Tech Tip says to use any Gasket Sealants.
The person at my local Napa store said to use Permatex Ultra Grey Gasket Maker
Also what to use on the head gasket ?
All gaskets are on a 1960 235 with a Hydra-Matic
Thanks in advance. Michael...

One of them has been hot rodded and still no leak after quite some time.
What kind of head gasket are you planning to use? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 433 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 433 | Alvin, I have both of these gaskets. The copper one is probably the one I will be using. It came in the full engine gasket set. Copper Head GasketFEL-PRO Part # : FPG 7619BWhen my father rebuilt the engine in the early 1980's it looks like he used blue silicon gasket materiel on the oil pan. Not sure if anything was used on the head gasket. Thanks. Michael...

Behind the joint, putting sealant on both surfaces makes for a lot of work when removing.

Use the sealant to stick the gasket to the pan not to glue the gasket to the engine. As for the head gasket there is a product called Copper Coat that comes in a small spray can. I have used it for 40 + years with no complaints.
