The Shop Manual does not give a torque value.
Does the pump cover gasket need any gasket forming material ?

(96 in/lbs) or so should be plenty. A drop of blue Loctite on the threads would be a good idea. I'd install the gasket dry, although the later V8 pumps don't use a gasket at all.
